Terms of Service

These terms govern the use of the 86 bytes service (your workspace on 86bytes.com), operated by 86 bytes CommV, registered in Belgium [registered office address] (“86 bytes”, “we”). By creating an account or using the service, you (“the customer”) agree to them. Questions: hello@86bytes.com.

1. The service

86 bytes helps businesses get their invoices paid: it detects invoices arriving in a connected mailbox, extracts and tracks them, matches incoming bank payments to them, and sends AI-assisted payment reminders from the customer’s own mailbox within the limits of applicable debt-collection rules. It includes an AI assistant for questions about the customer’s own invoice and customer data.

2. Accounts and connections

Customers are responsible for their account credentials and for the people they give access. Connecting a mailbox or bank account requires that the customer is authorized to connect it; access tokens are stored securely and connections can be revoked at any time, in the service or at the provider.

3. Customer responsibilities

4. AI-assisted features

Parts of the service use large language models: extracting data from invoice documents, filling limited personalization into pre-approved reminder templates, and the assistant. AI output can contain errors. The service routes low-confidence extractions to human review and constrains reminder text to approved templates, but the customer is responsible for reviewing flagged items before relying on them. Effectiveness metrics shown in the service (such as invoices paid after a reminder) are correlation-based indicators, not causal guarantees.

5. Fees

The service is offered as a monthly subscription. Every new workspace starts with a 30-day free trial; no payment method is required to start, and at the end of the trial the workspace is paused — never deleted — until a subscription is taken out. Prices are stated exclusive of VAT and are shown in the service before checkout. Payments are processed by our payment provider Adyen; recurring monthly charges are collected automatically on the payment method provided at subscription. A VAT invoice is issued for every charge. The subscription can be cancelled at any time and ends at the close of the paid period already charged; fees already paid are not refunded. If a recurring charge fails we retry it and notify the customer; after repeated failures the workspace is paused until payment is settled. We may change prices with at least 30 days’ notice, effective from the next renewal.

6. Availability and support

We aim for high availability but provide the service “as is” during early access, without an uptime guarantee. Planned maintenance and incidents are communicated to affected customers. Support is provided by email at hello@86bytes.com.

7. Data protection

Our Privacy Policy describes how personal data is processed. For customer business data we act as processor under a data processing agreement that forms part of these terms. On termination, we export the customer’s data on request and then delete it in line with the retention rules described in the Privacy Policy.

8. Intellectual property

The service, its software and its branding remain the property of 86 bytes. The customer’s data remains the customer’s. We claim no rights over it beyond what is needed to operate the service, and we do not permit AI providers to train models on it.

9. Liability

To the extent permitted by law, our liability for damages arising from the service is limited to direct damages and capped at the fees the customer paid for the service in the twelve months before the event (or €500 during any free period). We are not liable for indirect damages such as lost profit, nor for consequences of the customer relying on unreviewed AI output, of incorrect data supplied by the customer, or of failures of third-party services (mailbox providers, banks, AI providers). Nothing in these terms limits liability for fraud or willful misconduct.

10. Suspension and termination

The customer may stop using the service and terminate at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these terms, create security risks, or use the service unlawfully — with notice where reasonably possible. Sections that by their nature survive termination (liability, data protection, governing law) survive.

11. Changes

We may update these terms as the service evolves. Material changes are announced to customers at least 30 days before they take effect; continued use after that date constitutes acceptance.

12. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by Belgian law. Disputes that cannot be resolved amicably are submitted to the competent courts of Belgium.
